Gijs Brouwer has been working hard lately. The 27-year-old tennis player from Venhuizen is now number 122 in the world rankings and travels all over the world. Together with his father Idso Brouwer we return to tennis club De Drieban in Hem.
It all started for Gijs at the tennis club at the age of five. Although he was born in Houston (Texas) in America, he grew up in West Friesland. “It always feels like coming home here,” says Gijs, who travels all over the world for his tennis matches.
He recently achieved his best performance ever at the Houston ATP tournament. Precisely in his hometown, he made it to the semi-finals. “Coincidence doesn’t exist, they say,” says Gijs about the fact that he always rises above himself there.
