During World War II, the man was part of Easy Company, the well-known company within a US Army parachute regiment. He was parachuted over Normandy on D-Day and took part in Operation Market Garden in 1944 to accelerate the conquest of Nazi Germany before being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in December 1944 and January 1945.

After the war, he worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years.

The story of Easy Company was featured in the HBO miniseries ‘Band of Brothers’, directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. It was based on the book of the same name by Stephen Ambrose.
