The doors of the Boerhoorn in Zuidwolde open today for a busy day. There is a new multifunctional building, the Wolderhuus, and the Boerhoorn is outdated and redundant.
The building was transferred to the municipality of De Wolden for one euro. The Boerhoorn will be demolished in February or March. There will be a parking lot for the Wolderhuus on the site.
The remaining contents of the Boerhoorn will be sold this morning between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. Villagers can view the remaining items and choose what they still find useful for a small price.
“The building must be delivered empty and sweeping clean at the end of the month,” says chairman Jan Slagter van de Boerhoorn. “And that means that everything has to be removed. We moved everything that is still usable to the new building in December.”
It would be ideal if everything were sold, but Slagter is not counting on that. “We have already ordered a container,” he laughs. “I can’t imagine it all going away.”
There are still some chairs and tables, and the other things have to suit you, says Slagter. “For example, there are still very old cash registers. That’s really for people who like that. I think the metal ashtrays should be in the container will end up.”
