last hour of takeoff of the first Spanish rocket

The Miura 1, the first rocket designed and manufactured in Spain and one of the first European vehicles of this type designed to be reusable, successfully took off after 2 in the morning. After several failed attempts, the new launch of this mission took place around 2:15 a.m. this Saturday, October 7, from the El Arenisillo space base (Huelva) and It could be followed live on all digital platforms.

This “launch success” comes in the third launch attempt of MIURA 1, after two failed attempts: one on May 31, when the company postponed the flight of its launcher due to high winds and another on June 17 , when an automatic abort occurred 0.2 seconds after takeoff.

Since then, the company had not been able to make a new flight attempt due to mandatory compliance with current fire prevention regulations, the high temperatures at this time of year and the coordination with the Civil Guard to guarantee the safety zone. Thus, the team has taken advantage of these last few months to analyze what happened in the first launch and carry out all the necessary verifications to “guarantee the maximum success of the flight.”

As for payload, this first mission carries on board an experiment from the German Center for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM), which aims to study microgravity conditions.
