Last GP out-of-hours post is for Westhoek

Patients from Heuvelland, Ypres, Langemark-Poelkapelle, Poperinge and Vleteren can visit the on-call GP from Friday evening 7 pm to Monday morning 8 am and on public holidays, after telephone contact with 1733.

At hospital

The Westhoek GP out-of-hours service is an initiative of the non-profit organization Huisartsen Westhoek, supported by the Jan Yperman Hospital. The new out-of-hours GP post is located at 10 Brikestraat in Ypres, within walking distance of the main entrance of the Jan Yperman hospital. The permanence will be provided by 3 general practitioners during the day. At night, 1 general practitioner is responsible for this. A home visit is possible if medically necessary. This is carried out by the general practitioner together with a driver from the medical transport company FirstCare.

On-call duties during the week are, as in the past, continued by the general practitioners in rotation, outside the out-of-hours post. It is always important to call the central telephone number 1733 first if you need medical care outside the available hours of your own GP. This both during the week and at the weekend. At that number, the caller is referred to an operator, who will determine what needs to be done next.
