Last game for the DFB? Thomas Müller rows back

After he made an emotional statement in front of the TV cameras immediately after the German national soccer team was eliminated from the preliminary round at the World Cup in Qatar and indicated the end of his career in the DFB team, Thomas Müller from FC Bayern has now rowed back a bit.

“As far as the future is concerned, I will give myself the necessary time and think for a few days,” said the 33-year-old after the embarrassing end at the World Cup. He will exchange ideas with his wife Lisa and national coach Hansi Flick and then “express concretely”.

No sooner had the final whistle sounded than Müller, who personally made an extremely unfortunate impression at the finals, chose words that left far less leeway.

“It’s an absolute catastrophe, I don’t know exactly how things will continue. If that was my last game for Germany, then I would like to say a few words to all the German football fans who have been with me over the years.” , so the offensive veteran of FC Bayern in the “ARD”.

“But I’ve always done it with love”

“It was an enormous pleasure. Dear people, thank you very much. We experienced great moments. I tried to keep my heart on the pitch in every game. I gave my all. Sometimes there were tears of joy because of my actions, sometimes the spectators had also pain in the face because actions didn’t work out. But I’ve always done it with love. You can be sure of that and I have to see everything else first.”

“ARD” expert and ex-Müller teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger then classified the words quite clearly. “If you know you’re going to continue, then you don’t say something like that. That sounds a lot like Thomas’ last game for the national team to me,” the 2014 world champion speculated

The game against Costa Rica was Müller’s 121st international match. He scored 44 goals. In 2014 he became world champion in Brazil with the German team. In Qatar, however, he experienced the preliminary round at a World Cup for the second time in a row.
