Last day of ice fun: temperatures rise above freezing

It was a cold night, so skating is still possible in many places today. It is probably the last day of skating fun, because this afternoon the temperature will rise above freezing throughout the province.

It is already above freezing on Texel this morning because clouds are passing over. “And the cloud cover is expanding,” says NH weatherman Jan Visser. “Many people have seen the sun rise for a while, but then it becomes cloudy and it will remain that way this afternoon. And then the temperature rises to 3 degrees in ‘t Gooi and 6 degrees at sea. Then of course the ice melts quickly. backwards.”

It will remain dry today, but there may be some drizzle tonight. “That can cause some slippery conditions in the middle of the country,” says Visser. “But in the rest of the province that will probably not be too bad.”

End of the ice cream fun

Tomorrow morning it will be cloudy and it may be foggy. It can also become slippery here and there. “In the afternoon it will be 6 to 7 degrees,” says Visser. Then the ice cream fun is really over.

“The weekend is definitely not winter weather anymore,” says the weatherman. “It is often cloudy and there may be some rain on Sunday.” It will be about 6 degrees both days. It will no longer freeze at night either.

Winter weather again

According to Visser, it will be colder again after the weekend, due to a low-pressure area with cold air from Scandinavia. “Then we see that the temperature drops again, to about 2 to 3 degrees during the day and at night it will freeze slightly again.” After the weekend it will still be wintery for a while. “Occasionally there is a chance of some winter precipitation, snow or hail.”
