LASK: Ex-DFB junior Jan Boller suffers cruciate ligament rupture

Contract in Austria ends

Former DFB junior Jan Boller (22) will not be available to LASK for a long time. As the Austrian club reported on Tuesday, the defender tore his cruciate ligament during training at the weekend, which is why the season ended prematurely for him.

“The injury is very bitter for Jan and us, we know about his qualities. We wish him a good rehabilitation process and will do our best to support him on his way back,” LASK sports director Radovan Vujanovic is quoted as saying. Boller, who made it to the U19s with the DFB juniors and took part in the World and European Championships with the U17s in 2016, was seeded last season and made 33 games (four assists) before taking his regular place under new coach Dietmar Kühbauer lost to newcomer Philipp Ziereis (29). The ex-Bayer talent commuted between the bench, stands and the second team, for which he was used in three games. His contract ends next year.

“Boller had a difficult time after the catastrophic pre-season, in which LASK was against relegation. The defensive was one of the big shortcomings of Linz. With Ziereis in the center of defence, things now look more stable again,” says Dorian Schuster, Area Manager Austria at Transfermarkt.
