Lascana increases annual sales by 22 percent

The underwear and swimwear supplier Lascana continued on its growth path in the 2021/22 financial year, which ended at the end of February. The company, which belongs to the Hamburg retail and service group Otto Group, announced on Thursday that brand sales had increased by 22 percent compared to the previous year to a record value of 436 million euros. This means that Lascana has achieved double-digit sales growth for the seventh year in a row.

According to its own statements, the company was able to “continue to benefit from the dynamics of e-commerce” in the past year. Around ninety percent of global sales are attributable to online business, Lascana explained. On the major online platforms and marketplaces such as Otto, About You and Zalando, Lascana has achieved growth “between 25 and 70 percent,” according to a statement.

The clothing supplier was also successful in North America: “We are proud of our business development in the USA. In the past financial year, we were again able to grow by 70 percent compared to the previous year and are aiming for the 100 million turnover mark in the medium term,” explained managing director Marco Kebbe, who is responsible for global sales of the label, in a statement. “Apart from the DACH region, the USA is clearly the most important distribution market for our brand.”

Founder and managing director Jens Fehnders drew a correspondingly positive balance: “We are very happy that we were able to close this challenging calendar year with this fantastic result”. he explained in a statement. “In addition to the strategic advantage of our very high online share, the expansion of our product groups and the very good availability of our range were decisive for this success, as we acted very early on with stocking.”

In the current year, the company intends to continue on its growth course: “Increasing sales in the fashion product group” and a “great pent-up demand” for swimwear and beach fashion are expected, according to a statement. Lascana is therefore striving “for the eighth time in a row to achieve significant sales growth in the 2022/23 financial year”.
