Largest increase in home burglaries in Drenthe

In the first five months of this year, Drenthe was broken into 305 times. That is an increase of almost 70 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

In no other province was the increase in the number of home burglaries as strong as in Drenthe, comparison site Independer reports based on data from the police.

The data shows that the chance of a burglary is relatively greatest in Meppel. There were 3.2 burglaries per 1,000 households. Midden-Drenthe and De Wolden come in second with 1.6 burglaries per 1,000 households. Tynaarlo has the smallest chance of a burglary with 0.8 burglaries per 1,000 households.

In Meppel, burglaries were 44 times more frequent in the first five months of the year than in 2021. Households in Emmen (27 times more often) and Coevorden (11 times more often) also received unwanted visitors more often. There was less burglary in Assen, just like in Tynaarlo and Westerveld.
