The call came in to the fire service just before 2 p.m. Meanwhile, the fire brigade has confirmed that the fire did indeed start in a warehouse on the site of the old gendarmerie barracks, which now belongs to the federal police. “It is important to stay away and let the emergency services do their job. Stay out of the smoke and close windows and doors in case of nuisance,” said spokeswoman Marie De Clercq. The plume of smoke would be about 30 meters high.
