To combat organized crime in the transport sector, a large-scale inspection took place in the port of Terneuzen last week.
Moerdijk, Oosterhout and Waalwijk were also part of the major control. In total, 35 containers, 52 companies, 12 boats and more than 100 vehicles were checked by customs and police. A Jaguar with a false license plate, 6 nitrous oxide cylinders and found fake clothing were seized.
Preventive checks
It was about preventive checks under the flag of van TFOC (Transport Facilitated Organized Crime), a program aimed at preventing and combating organized crime in the transport sector. Last week, the water was also checked for the first time.
During the inspection rounds, the customs officers and agents discussed the dangers of criminal interference with dozens of drivers, skippers and entrepreneurs. 143 Terminal employees were trained to recognize organized crime. Not only that, they also learned how best to act next.
Serious game operation Zelos
In addition to the checks, the serious game ‘Operation Zelos’ was brought to the attention of the transport employees. This game outlines in a very realistic way what a truck driver can face in terms of organized crime. The player makes choices for the driver at important moments.
