Electric driving means charging at a charging station every now and then. Some people have a pole at home, others have to go to public charging points. On average, you pay more in public places in Brabant than in other provinces. The costs also vary greatly per municipality.
You pay for petrol per litre, electricity per kilowatt hour (kWh). For public charging in Brabant you pay on average about 38 cents per kWh. The average price throughout the Netherlands is 36 cents. This is evident from a study by the Dutch comparison site Independer.
An average electric car uses about 15 kWh per hundred kilometers, according to ANWB data. This costs an average of 5.70 euros in Brabant. So it pays to think carefully about which municipality the car will be at the charging station in when charging, but it is always a lot cheaper than driving on petrol.

Charge at home
If there are many expensive public charging stations in the area, charging at home is an option. According to the ANWB, 1 kWh at home charging stations costs an average of 46 cents. “This can be advantageous, especially in combination with solar panels,” Kerkhof tips.
