A fire is raging in an empty building in the center of Eindhoven. According to the fire department, the building is often used by homeless people. It is therefore not clear whether there are still people inside.
A lot of smoke is released during the very large fire in the Lichtstraat. An NL-Alert has been issued because it is moving across the city center. A Jumbo branch nearby is still open, but has closed the front door.
Visitors to the Bridge Guitar Festival a little further away have been sent home, confirms an employee of Café Wilhelmina. There was a stage in front of the door for performances. ”But it was no longer possible. The smoke smells terrible. A very pungent air that smells like burnt plastic.”
