Large fire in outbuilding on the Veerdijk in Wormer

At the Veerdijk in Wormer, a fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. in a wooden outbuilding between two houses. The fire service has now got the fire under control. No injuries were reported in the fire.

A spokesman for the fire brigade: “Because it concerned a wooden outbuilding and there were short problems with water extraction, the fire brigade scaled it up to a large fire.” The residents of the two houses next to the annex were already outside when the emergency services arrived. The two houses are two separate residences.

The fire is now under control. It is still unclear how the fire started. A heater may be the cause. The Salvage Foundation is currently investigating whether the homes are still habitable for the residents.
