Two barrels with liquid were found along a bicycle path on the IJweg in Lisserbroek this afternoon around 4.30 pm. Police suspect the barrels were dumped there. The environment has been cordoned off to investigate what kind of liquid it is.
The two barrels that have been dumped have a volume of 500 liters each. A police spokesperson said it is not yet clear what type of liquid it is. “To know what’s in it, it has to be tested first.” An advisor in the field of hazardous substances also came to the discovery for this purpose.
As far as the police know, the large containers are not leaking. The environmental service is also on site.
More often
There are more often barrels with liquid found in them. It often turns out to be drug waste. Police are not yet able to say whether there is a suspicion of this at the moment.
