Larense family wins half a million but is not at home: “Saw on TV that they were walking to our house”

At the end of the first episode of ‘Miljoenenjacht’ on SBS6, viewers saw that Gerschtanowitz rang the doorbell and the door was not opened. The presenter had never experienced that before. “After more than 20 years, it would still be a legendary evening, because I remain standing in front of a closed door,” he said.

Criminal

Residents Elwin and Inge de Valk (58) were away for a weekend with their three children and supporters. “Elwins’ six-week medical treatment was completed and we celebrated with a weekend in Zeeland.”
Elwin and Inge were contacted on Sunday morning by someone from the Postcode Lottery, who said they were bringing a ‘large package’ and flowers. “We didn’t trust it, because they didn’t want to say what they came for. During Elwin’s treatment, packages and flowers were regularly delivered. That happened in a ‘normal’ way, and not like this. For the same money, a criminal organization was behind it.”

The family even informed the police when their children were also approached by the lottery and people from the organization rang the doorbells across the street. The police couldn’t find anything around the house, but they thought it was a strange story.

Very strange roller coaster

In the evening, Elwin and Inge were alerted by their neighborhood: there was a red lottery vehicle in their street. “A neighbor called us and said it probably had something to do with the Postcode Lottery. The television turned on at our house, we only saw the amount increase and Gerschtanowitz finally arrive at our door. At that moment we knew.” Their neighborhood app exploded with all the happy messages.

“We really didn’t expect this. We are very happy, but still full of adrenaline,” says Elwin. “It was a really strange rollercoaster in twelve hours. My brother said that the chance of a meteorite hitting you is greater than of you winning such a prize. This is very special.”

Check

After the television moment, they were called again by the lottery and they were still able to collect the money. The family does not yet know what they will do with the money. “But we are going to frame the check and give it a nice place in our house.”
