Lara was shocked by fireworks and escaped: ‘blood was on the front door’

Marie-Louise Vorstenbosch from Sint-Oedenrode will not soon forget New Year’s Eve this time. On New Year’s Eve, her dog Lara escaped after children threw fireworks at the animal while walking. Marie-Louise has been looking for Lara for two days now and the hope that she will return is dwindling by the minute. Especially after she came home to find traces of the dog’s blood on the front door. “We searched day and night, without results.”

Lara is a nine-month-old female, an Australian Sherperd. Marie-Louise takes us back to Sunday. “Around three o’clock I was taking Lara for a walk. Children were setting off fireworks near Florisstraat. They threw the fireworks at Lara. She became so scared that she ran away. She pulled the leash from my hands and fled. towards the park. We searched city and country, but since then she has been missing,” says Marie-Louise.

During the fireworks, Lara walked a little closer to Marie-Louise. “She was a bit scared. The children who had thrown the fireworks were nowhere to be seen.”

“Since throwing fireworks, Lara has been missing.”

Once home, Marie-Louise saw blood spatter on the front door. Maybe Lara got hit by a car. She doesn’t dare say it. After this discovery, Marie-Louise immediately contacted the organization Where is our Angel and he immediately used sniffer dog Jill to track down the missing Lara. “The sniffer dog found a trail and was able to follow it for some time. Due to the many gunpowder fumes, which are bad for a sniffer dog, it was decided to stop the search after five kilometers.”

Through Animalcare Brabant a second sniffer dog was sent out on New Year’s Day. “At the Spingplank primary school, the dog made a huge impact. However, no trace of Lara has been found,” Marie-Louise says, somewhat despondently. “Now we’re going to see if we can lure her home with some sausages.”
