Christophe Laporte won the semi-classic across Flanders. Three days after his success at Gent-Wevelgem, the Frenchman won as a soloist in Waregem after attacking four kilometers from the finish.
Second in the race over eight cobblestone passages and a total of eight climbs was the Spaniard Oier Lazkano ahead of the American Neilson Powless. The German champion Nils Politt, who finished fifth last year, finished with the chasing group and finished tenth.
The 184-kilometer race was the final endurance test before the Tour of Flanders on Sunday. All five Belgian cobblestone races so far have been won by drivers from the Jumbo-Visma team. The favorites for the Ronde did not compete in Quer durch Flanders this year. Neither defending champion Mathieu van der Poel nor Laporte’s teammate Wout van Aert or Tadej Pogacar showed up a few days before the first highlight of the season.
