Lanterns illuminate numb gnomes in Emmen

Hundreds of children braved the cold on Sunday together with fathers, mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers to enjoy the light route on the Kabouterpad in the Emmerdennen in Emmen.

The more than a hundred gnomes are a bit shivering, but the fairytale atmosphere makes up for it all. Because in addition to lanterns, tree stumps and trunks are also illuminated. And what about those ten colorful butterflies?

Thanks to donations, the initiators of the Kabouterpad were able to make a hundred lanterns. In fact, no more complicated than cola bottles covered with kite paper, which also helped mentally disabled people from the area.

Appreciation price

The makers want to use the lanterns once every eight to ten weeks to illuminate the route. In the past year, the Kabouterpad has had to deal with destructiveness a few times, but recently, according to Eric van Waardenburg, things have been going well. And it can only get better, because the Kabouterpad has been nominated for the appreciation prize of the municipality of Emmen.
