A 71-year-old man from a suburb of the American city of Chicago stabbed a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy to death and seriously injured his 32-year-old mother on Saturday. The perpetrator was their landlord. He told police that he targeted both victims because of their Islamic faith and in response to Hamas’s recent attack on Israel. The man has been charged with murder, attempted murder, assault and two ‘hate crimes’. US President Biden condemns the “heinous act of hatred.”
