Telstar failed to beat Almere City FC. In-house it became 1-0 for the team from Flevoland. Substitute Lance Duijvestijn scored the only goal of the match.
The first danger of the match came from a corner by Anthony Limbombe. Stije Resink headed the ball on target, but goalkeeper Joey Houweling held back. In the counter-punch, a cross from Yahya Boussakou was cleared before an attacker from Telstar could get there. The first half didn’t have any great chances.
After the break it also took a while before the first chance was created. Substitute David Min was immediately close to a goal, but Nordin Bakker kept his goal clean. Almere took the lead in the final phase. Lance Duijvestijn was the maker of the hit. The Flevolanders then had to continue with ten men after a second yellow card from Damian van Bruggen.
Due to the sour defeat, Telstar has dropped back to the right row (eleventh place). De Graafschap is the next opponent (February 3), the old club of coach Mike Snoei.
