Lampaert is aiming for top 10 at the European Time Trial Championships

Because time trial world champion Remco Evenepoel will not be at the start of the European Championships in Drenthe, the second Belgian ticket goes to Yves Lampaert: “I asked Sven if there was room for me to participate in this. I hope I can compete at the same level as can perform.” That means a place in the top 10 for Lampaert. “That would be my place. I would be satisfied with that. I know I am not Remco or Wout, but I still see myself as the third man in Belgium. Or as fourth man: it depends on whether you include (Alec) Segaert or not.”

Fair course

Like Van Aert, Lampaert explored the 29.5 kilometer long course of the European Championship time trial in Emmen on Tuesday morning. “A nice course. But not technical. It is a fair course. The legs will speak. It will be a deserved winner, I think.”
