Lamborghini Huracan: the hybrid heir arrives by 2024

The sports hybrid that will replace one of the most successful models of the Bull house will make its debut by the end of next year. First confirmations from Stefan Winkelmann, CEO of the brand. It is not certain whether there will also be a farewell to the V10

The promise had already been made in 2021, when Stefan WinkelmannCEO of Lamborghini, had set the deadline for the completion of the electrification of the range: by 2024 all the models of the Toro would have become hybrids, starting with the 12-cylinder flagships, up to the SUV segment (with the Urus). In between, of course, there is also a medium sports car – by the standards of Sant’Agata Bolognese, of course – that is to say, that segment which was (re)born at the beginning of the 2000s with the much appreciated Gallardo. And in fact here we are, anxiously awaiting the heir of the equally successful one Huracána car which in recent years has contributed to making the fortune of the Bolognese brand and which by 2024 will be replaced by a sports hybrid.

V8 or V10?

Winkelmann himself confirmed the news, which had already been in the air for some time, during a conference dedicated to the V12 which will replace the Aventador. Between one joke and another, there was also time to talk about the next V10, or rather, the car that will give continuity to the Huracan. If, on the one hand, it is certain that it will be equipped with aelectrified unit, on the other hand, there is still speculation on the splitting of the thermal engine. And at Lamborghini, happy to leave enthusiasts and insiders on their toes a little longer, they are careful not to release any information on the matter. “It will have more than 6 cylinders and less than 12” commented the technical manager a few months ago, Rouven Mohr, teasing the imagination of fans and journalists. Obviously there are many who wish that the legendary V10 (used over the years also on some Audi models such as the S8, S6, RS6 and R8) can continue to roar, while being electrically supported. If this also appears to be the most immediate solution, we cannot rule out the debut of a V-eight cylinder equipped with a double turbocharger, a “civilized” version of the V8 destined for the future Lmdh prototype. We will know the truth soon, but in any case, before seeing the Huracan retire, we expect at least one final editiona bit like what was done for the long-lived Aventador: it would be the worthy conclusion of an amazing career.
