Lamborghini brings in ex-Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean

Lamborghini is serious about its program in the LMDh category: the Italian manufacturer has secured the services of Romain Grosjean for its endurance programme! Lamborghini is now officially announcing this.

Along with Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli, Grosjean is one of three drivers selected by Lamborghini to enter the top class of endurance racing. A fourth pilot will be announced at a later date.

The Swiss, who drives under a French license, is of crucial importance in the development of the LMDh prototype. Grosjean will be included in the Lamborghini test program from spring 2023 and should provide valuable input through his wealth of experience from ten years of Formula 1.

Romain Grosjean: Lamborghini debut at Daytona

Grosjean contests his first race as a Lamborghini works driver at the 24 Hours of Daytona at the end of January. At the start of the 2023 IMSA season, he will sit alongside Bortolotti and Caldarelli at the wheel of a Huracan GT3 EVO2 fielded by the new works team Iron Lynx.

“It is an honor for me to join the Lamborghini family,” says Grosjean. “Also, I’m particularly excited to make my debut at Daytona with the latest Evo stage of the Huracan GT3, which has achieved many successes in previous editions, and to be entrusted to a team like Iron Lynx with talented teammates.”

“I’m sure it will be a great discovery for me. I’m also excited to be contributing to the development of the LMDh car, which I’ve been lucky enough to see and it’s really beautiful.”

“We are very proud to sign Romain as a works driver for 2023,” added Motorsport Director Giorgio Sanna. “Romain is a very experienced and fast driver, ideal for the Squadra Corse, which will be active in 2023 both on the track with the Huracan GT3 EVO2 and in the first phase of the development of the LMDh prototype.”
