In the 2020/21 Corona season, Spanish clubs in LaLiga lost 892 million euros. More than half of the minus went to FC Barcelona.
Mainly because of the ghost games, sales fell by 24.1 percent to 3.8 billion euros. This was announced by the Spanish league on Tuesday. It is the first loss since 2012.
“The strong financial solvency and sense of responsibility of most clubs has helped Spanish football weather this crisis,” the league said. “A strong recovery is expected in the 2021/22 season before returning to full normality in 2023/24 should be.”
