Martina Maccari, wife of the future Juventus captain, walked on foot for 26 days: the sum will be donated to the Neurosurgery department of the Regina Margherita children’s hospital

Copious tears fall not only on the faces of the protagonists but also from the sky, which has decided to wet the event. After 26 days and 575 km on foot, Martina Maccari was greeted upon arrival in the Valentino park by a white rose, her husband Leonardo Bonucci and three children Leonardo, Matteo and Matilda. It was moving and thrilling to see them run to meet, hug and let go. No one has managed to avoid crying, not even the next Juventus captain, proud of his wife’s effort for an excellent cause.

To give oneself to give

Today, in fact, the last stage of the charity initiative “On the same road” took place, Martina’s journey on foot which began on May 1st (Bonucci’s birthday) which allowed her to raise over 170,000 euros. The sum will be donated to the Neurosurgery Department of the Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital of the City of Health of Turin, where one of the Bonuccis’ children was hospitalized in the past. The project will continue to raise funds until next autumn and will allow the non-profit organization Neuroland to purchase an exoscope for delicate brain surgery. Martina’s lay procession passed through 26 municipalities and over 300 people joined her along the way, sharing some stages of the journey. To give oneself to donate is Martina’s slogan, which also involved other bianconere and ex: the wives of Chiellini and Perin, the companion of the president Andrea Agnelli and Alena Seredova lost part in the last stage.

Luck to share

“It is the best experience of my life, I feel full of happiness. We have a comfortable life, we are lucky but our luck is to share everything with others. I left with the hope that this initiative would allow me to realize the desire for restitution matured over the years. Today it is a desire that comes true, with a fundraising that went beyond expectations ”, said Martina, founder of Nettore, the publishing project launched in May 2021.

Leo, Captain Dad

Bonucci, with the help of his in-laws, had the task of managing the children during Martina’s absence: “The children were very good, they gave no sign of suffering. We made a return schedule and put the x’s every day. Behind the project there are several months of work, the last two being the most intense. We want to follow up because donating doesn’t have to stop there. This story has linked us even more to Turin. Martina has always shown that she is very strong. She scared me the distance from the children but she has shown once again that she has the attributes “.
