The Ladies of Soul have decided to cancel their concerts due to the hassle surrounding Glennis Grace. It leads to enormous astonishment among connoisseurs and critics. “This is very strange”, says Luuk Ikink.

The pressure on the Ladies of Soul to drop their colleague Glennis Grace for the two Ziggo Dome concerts this September was enormous. Only a month after those concerts does the Jumbo process against the singer start and the timing is therefore pretty bad. Now it has been decided to just delete everything completely.

Negative publicity

There was no other choice, say the Ladies of Soul. “The negative publicity surrounding the incident in which Glennis became involved, while the cultural sector is still recovering, has made the much-needed promotion for the concerts difficult for more than three months.”

They continued: “Glennis understands that this has taken its toll and has informed us over the past week that it wishes to withdraw from the concerts. In the meantime, we have done everything we can to see whether the concerts could still take place because we do not want to disappoint the fans.”

Huge disappointment

According to the Ladies, that has not turned out to be possible. “Due to all the developments and after intensive consultation with specialists and advisors, it appears not feasible to produce the spectacular shows that you are used to from us in the short term.”

They conclude: “This is self-evident and a huge disappointment for everyone who works with heart and soul on Ladies of Soul and our loyal visitors.”

Luke Ikink surprised

Luuk Ikink thinks it’s very strange. One Frenckel says to him: “Ladies of Soul isn’t all about Glennis, is it? Ziggo Dome is finally working overtime again with the largest productions. How can Armin van Buuren put down a great production, and another not? Then do one show instead of two. Or are there really so few tickets sold?”

Luuk then: “It is indeed strange that canceling one person immediately results in being unable to organize a spectacular show.”

He continues: “I don’t think it was the negative publicity that made promotion difficult. The incident itself. Glennis Grace is suspected of open assault and premeditated assault – logical that questions arise in the run-up to such a big show.”

Weird statement

RTL Boulevard reporter Joost Maiburg is also surprised. “Um… she started right? ? Anyhow, weird statement with weird comparisons and connections.”

One Jordy said: “I’m speculating now, but I strongly suspect that the production (and the ladies) had a good conversation with GG, where they hoped that she would get out of the project herself. And it didn’t.”

Joost: “Or ticket sales were already so bad due to a lack of promo that they could cancel it nicely under this cover without losing too much face for the other ladies… who knows.”
