Since René Lacoste first brought the polo shirt to the court in 1933, the Lacoste brand has been the fashion maker in tennis.
On the occasion of the French Open in Paris, Lacoste presents a photo series with the Roland Garros collection and other fashion pieces. The photo series aims to highlight the fashion that surrounds the game on and off the pitch.
The creative photo series has the motto “Après-Court”. Inspired by the idea of après-ski, a tradition arguably larger than the sport itself, après-court, like its winter counterpart, aims to bring together a community of old and new tennis fans off the court.
Combining the rich heritage of Lacoste and Roland-Garros, après court blends creativity, culture and fashion in a way never before seen during a tournament.
The different fashion worlds will be experienced both offline between the games, in Paris and online. They connect audiences and bring communities together in a fun and engaging way. The focus is on the love of the game and culture.
A few days before the start of the Roland Garros tournament in Paris, French photographer Alex “Très Cool” Dobe revealed his vision of the fashion sports silhouette by putting some iconic pieces from the Roland Garros co-branded lifestyle collection in motion .
The series focuses on moments of life that take place on the streets of the capital. For this, iconic pieces such as the polo shirt or the referee jacket were mixed with fashion sports pieces to celebrate style and tennis culture beyond the Roland Garros backdrop.
You’ve seen the game.
Now enjoy the culture.
Sit back, relax and soak up the Parisian atmosphere of Roland Garros at the après court.
LIFESTYLE COLLECTION
The 2022 Roland Garros collection is an ode to the brand’s sporting heritage.
Louise Trotter and her team have been inspired by sports clubs and their clothing styles to design a collection for 2022 that is all about sport.
The pieces of the lifestyle collection are based on the highlights of the last Lacoste fashion shows. Oversized cuts, cable-knit sweaters ̶ the house crest and stripes run through the seams of this Roland-Garros 2022 collection.
Whether on the collar, the sleeve or the top of the shorts, the stripes add style and movement to the silhouettes, both on and off the pitch.
The crocodile that represents Lacoste has been modernized. It is omnipresent on the pieces of the lifestyle collection and gives a special elegance to the Lacoste Fashion-Sport style. The injected silicone material, which forms the sporty basis of the collection, is complemented with hand-woven effects.
PERFORMANCE COLLECTION
More fashion. More sportiness. The Lacoste 2022 performance silhouette was conceived as a playground in which to reconcile the brand’s two historical areas, sport and fashion.
Mesh stripes and the use of laser cutting add futuristic style to the performance silhouette.
When it comes to fabrics, Lacoste is already shaping its future by developing new materials. For the 2022 edition, a jacquard fabric has been developed exclusively for the Roland-Garros pitch outfit. The Lacoste studio has been inspired by the classic jacquard associated with a graphic design by Robert Georges to create this new Engineered Jacquard ̶ a mesh jacquard with different opening points.
For women, the performance outfit of the current number six in the world, Anett Kontaveit, shows a shorter back that is cleaner, more feminine and more fashionable, mixed with pleats that underline the silhouette’s sporty and traditional appeal.
The Roland Garros collection is now available online and in selected boutiques.
