Labels to Watch: Fashion from Munich

‌Anyone who has seen the documentary “Schikeria” about Munich, which Janek Romero shot for Amazon Prime, knows: Munich has style. In the 1970s, sharks swam in the coolest club in Europe, where Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger and Freddie Mercury played together. The Munich-based labels that we will introduce to you below prove that a bit of this chic is still alive.

Hacoy

Hacoy has made it its mission to create timeless collections that last a long time. The fashion brand specializes in sustainable, high-quality clothing that is produced under fair working conditions. With “Circular Orbit”, the label has also developed a program that extends the life cycle of its garments. Whether through loaning, repairing, buying back a piece of clothing, redesigning pieces or the planned ‘Revive Service’, in which something new is created from leftovers.

By Biron

Founder Alexandra Biron from Curland relies on the 3U formula with her label: unique, unisex and upcycling. Collected and sorted old clothing becomes new high-quality models. This winter, for example, it’s old Norwegian sweaters that were collected by the recycler Retetxil. The sweaters are washed, steamed and then reconditioned. There are also small series of ready-made styles made from discarded fabrics that complement the collection. Currently these include trousers, shirts, colored turtlenecks and dresses. These styles are called ‘Plurales’ at the label and form the counterpart to the unique pieces.
