La Poste group launches its Data and AI School

A few years ago, La Poste integrated data and artificial intelligence into the heart of its digital transformation project. This is why the French group already has 400 experts from both disciplines in its ranks. However, La Poste wishes to accelerate the recruitment of skills to optimize its operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction and develop innovative solutions for businesses and the public sector. The French group even wants to double its workforce of data and AI experts by 2025. But candidates trained in these professions are missing. To remedy this, La Poste has therefore decided to create its own School.

Two key values: ethics and inclusion

As a company with a mission, La Poste has founded its school on the values of ethics and inclusion, which are at the heart of its model. In order to develop trust in digital technology, it is essential to support developments in current technologies in a framework that respects the use of personal data. You also need to be able to anticipate future AI regulations. Therefore, students of the School of Data and AI will benefit from courses in ethical AI.

Postal workers wishing to progress within the company will be able to register. The training is also accessible to students with a first post-baccalaureate experience, or to retraining candidates identified within the framework of partnerships. The School of Data and AI is also a place of diversity, which aims to strengthen the place of women in the tech professions. La Poste wants promotions to be equal by 2027.

Objective: 250 candidates trained per year over the next 3 years

Future talents will be trained in 4 booming professions: data product owner, data analyst, data engineer and data scientist. The School offers qualifying training lasting 3 to 12 months. Internal candidates will benefit from personalized training integrating missions within the La Poste group. External candidates will follow a work-study course, and will develop their operational skills by working directly with the company.

The School has already tested its program with a first pilot class made up of 36 internal employees and 5 external work-study trainees in the data analyst and data engineer professions. La Poste has set itself the goal of training up to 250 candidates over the next 3 years with the establishment of a promotion of 50 candidates in January 2023.
