La Mercè, as the public well knows, are three festivals simultaneously, one of musicwith the BAM as the central axis, which has brought together some 260,000 peopleanother of performing arts in the street, the MACwhich has been enjoyed by 190,000 viewers, and, finally, the classic one, that of old or newly invented traditions but that fit perfectly with the previous ones. The latter group includes, for example, the ‘correfoc’, held in this edition with its conventional structure of brutal parades and which, according to the Guardia Urbana, was attended by 120,000 spectators, a capital figure that contributed to notably fattening the presence of tourists.

La Mercè, with these provisional data on the table, will possibly exceed 1.1 million viewers, because the pyromusical of 2019, the last pre-pandemic, brought together 90,000 people in front of the Montjuïc fountains.
A more patient evaluation of how each space in La Mercè has functioned is pending for the next few hours, but the Barcelona Institute of Culture is filled with great satisfaction at the reception received by the Parc de l’Aqüeducte de Ciutat Meridiana, a new in the programming, and the Joan Miró park, which opened in 2020, so access was restricted.
