With the opening of The Sea in 2015he Peruvian chef and businessman Gastón Acurio managed to put the Peruvian cuisine on everyone’s lips. It is impossible to eat there and not fall in love with their dishes, although for some it is also impossible to pay for them.
That’s why it came Chalaca Bara “gauchita” version of La Mar, a ceviche bar like the ones in Port of Callaonearly Lime, where you can eat traditional Peruvian cuisine in generous portions, at friendly prices.
The establishment, completely glazed, with a long bar inside and tables on the sidewalk, invites you to both eat a good dish and sit down to have a snack. Fishing is the protagonist and they have, of course, a good variety of ceviches and tiraditos in versions full of flavor, made with the same unbeatable raw materials from La Mar. To fully enjoy it, we recommend ordering the whole catch, which they prepare different ways: fried, sweated (in a saucepan), a la chorrillana (fried and isada), and Nikkei type, in jelly (cut into pieces). There is also an interesting selection of maritime sandwiches, such as La Salchimar, with chistorra marina with chili cream, or the Fish Burguer.
There is no shortage of classic causes, lomo saltado, chaufa and rice – all Peruvian hits to choose from according to hunger. The snack section is very tempting for hot days. There are seafood wontons (Chinese-type fried ravioli) with tamarind sauce, wantacos (a cross between wonton and taco) with trout and avocado tartar, prawn spring rolls (hello Southeast Asia), and corn pancakes, a vice when they are good crispy If you are afraid of the unknown, go for some squid cracklings, they are rabas!
To drink, they have homemade chicha morada, with a lot of spice perfume and not as sweet as is usually found, and the house drink, the Curatodo, with a secret recipe and version with or without alcohol. There are also wines by the glass, classic drinks from our estates and the inevitable pisco sour and chilcano, the Peruvian gin and tonic, with pisco and ginger ale, a glory.
