La Liga: Real wins clearly against Celta Vigo

Champions League winners Real Madrid have continued their perfect start to the new season and have at least temporarily taken the lead.

In game one after the departure of midfield star Casemiro to Manchester United, coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team won 4-1 (2-1) at Celta Vigo on Saturday evening. After success in the Supercup against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-0) and at the start of the league against promoted UD Almeria (2-1), it is the third win in a row for Real.

Captain Karim Benzema (14th) gave the favorite defending champion an early lead with a penalty after video evidence, Iago Aspas (23rd) countered with another penalty to make it 1-1. Old champion Luka Modric (41st), Vinicius Junior (56th) and Federico Valverde (66th) secured the unchallenged victory for the guests, Eden Hazard (87th) awarded a penalty kick in the final phase.

World champion Toni Kroos missed the game with the flu. National player and Real newcomer Antonio Rüdiger came on after 70 minutes.

On Sunday, FC Barcelona and world footballer Robert Lewandowski want to win their first win of the new season. After the disappointing 0-0 start against Rayo Vallecano, the Catalans meet Real Sociedad in the evening.
