Spain’s soccer record champions Real Madrid have once again struggled in La Liga. Four days after the 1-1 semi-final first leg of the Champions League against Manchester City, the royal team celebrated a difficult 1-0 (0-0) win against Getafe FC. Marco Asensio redeemed the defending champion with his goal in the 70th minute.
While 2014 world champion Toni Kroos came on as a substitute at Real in the second half, national player Antonio Rüdiger stayed on the bench to rest. The second leg in the premier class takes place in Manchester on Wednesday (17.05.23).
Atletico can pass again
The championship title seems reserved for Real’s arch-rivals FC Barcelona. The Catalans lead the table by eleven points over Real and have one game left. Atletico Madrid can move back up past Real to second place with a win at FC Elche on Sunday.
