With an easy home win, FC Barcelona has at least temporarily moved up to second place in the Spanish football championship.
With German national players Marc-André ter Stegen and Ilkay Gündogan in the starting line-up, the Catalans won 4-0 (1-0) against Getafe FC and moved within five points of Real Madrid. However, the league leaders have played one game less.
Raphinha (20th minute), Joao Felix (53rd), Frenkie de Jong (61st) and Fermin Lopez (90th + 1) scored their fourth win from the last five league games. Surprise team FC Girona could surpass Barcelona again during the 26th matchday.
National team captain Gündogan was substituted in the 83rd minute; he had been shown yellow in the first half after a verbal argument with Getafe’s Omar Alderete (37th). Ter Stegen remained without conceding a goal, but was lucky shortly after the break when he parried a long-range shot: the ball bounced off the post and back into the field (49th).
