L5 reopens the section between Diagonal and Vilapicina after 10 days of works

The works have been completed with a renovation of 1,154 meters of track and the removal of asbestos-containing materials

The section of L5 of the Barcelona metro between the Diagonal and Vilapicina stops will reopen this Tuesday the 19thafter 10 days of works with which 1,681 meters of tracks have been renewed.

In a statement, Barcelona Metropolitan Transport (TMB) has reported that this Monday they are already carrying out train running tests and the operation of the road signaling so that tomorrow, starting at 5:00 am, the L5 will work again from one end to the other, from Cornellà Center to Vall d’Hebron.

The works that have been executed correspond to a comprehensive action of renovation of the track between La Sagrera and Horta, to which TMB will allocate a total of 15 million euros. In this way, part of the work to be carried out has been advanced, so that the actions to be carried out will be reduced in summer, between July and August.

These works were to serve renovate 1,154 meters of track, but it has been possible to act on 1,681 meters, 45% more than initially planned. The works have also served to remove materials containing asbestos which were located at the Maragall station.
