Boonte Störrem blows through Maastricht
The Bonte Storm in Maastricht traditionally passed through the city on Carnival Sunday. Last year, corona still threw a spanner in the works, the year before there was a major setback due to the severe weather. But today participants and audience enjoyed themselves again. And so there were thousands of people on the side.
Finally another parade in Sittard
They have never been inside for as long as now. The carnival floats of the parade in Sittard were sheltered in a shed for no less than a thousand days. But today they were finally allowed to go outside again for the parade with cars.
Increasing support for Ukraine
Also in our region there are always actions and statements of support to support Ukraine and its inhabitants. This afternoon there was a peace march through the center of Heerlen. In the coming days, there will be more statements of support from municipalities. Food parcels were distributed to Ukrainian truck drivers in Venlo today. Many of these drivers cannot access their money because bank accounts have been frozen because of the war.
The little ones celebrate carnival in Venlo
Not a real permanent resident for two years. For the smallest it is suddenly overwhelming. The children’s parade started in Venlo today. That took some getting used to.
A sour defeat for Fortuna
A big hangover, that’s what the Fortuna Sittard players got up with this morning. They led 0-2 against Cambuur in Leeuwarden. At least, that’s what they thought for a moment. Until the Var intervened and the referee rejected the last goal. To make matters worse, Cambuur started to play better and won the match with 1-2.
