This summer it is exactly 40 years ago that Italy became world champions in football. For many Italians outside their own national borders, in the turbulent eighties, this was the ultimate form of recognition. Roberto Pennino, a native of Heerle with Italian roots, met his heroes from then and wrote a book about them.
