KZ picks bench seat Marijn van den Goorbergh away from korfball finalist PKC

KZ is busy shaping next season’s team and has received the first reinforcements. Marijn van den Goorbergh comes over from hall finalist PKC, where he played four seasons. Last season he was hardly in the plans for the korfball club from Papendrecht.

“I have spoken with several clubs, but the energy at KZ felt the best,” says 29-year-old Van den Goorbergh, who won gold with Orange at the European Championship 2016, on the KZ’s website† “The group consists of a good mix of experienced players and young talents and I look forward to competing with them for a place in the play-offs next season.”

Coach Tim Bakker played at the European Championship 2016 together with Van den Goorbergh and is happy with his first acquisition for the new season. “With his profile and character, he is the perfect addition to our group. We noticed in the conversations that the click is very good.”

KZ recently stranded in the semi-finals of the play-offs. Over two games, Fortuna, which defeated PKC in the final, was far too strong for the Koogers. In the regular competition, KZ finished fourth.
