Now the cat is out of the bag: Kylian Mbappé will leave Paris Saint-Germain next summer at the latest. According to the attacker, he never considered the unilateral option of extending his contract with the French champions.
The 24-year-old told the news agency “AFP” on Tuesday. Mbappé emphasized that he had already informed the club officials on July 15, 2022 that he would not make use of this option next summer.
His current working paper in Paris expires in 2024, with the activation of the option, the superstar would have committed himself to the club for another year.
On Monday, “L’Équipe” initially reported that Mbappé had informed PSG in a letter that he would not use the clause. “The only purpose of the letter was to confirm what had long been discussed,” said the professional’s statement.
And further: “Kylian Mbappé and those around him confirm that they have never spoken to the club about this issue again during the year, except two weeks ago when they announced the letter would be sent. There was also no discussion of a possible extension .”

However, the 2018 world champion wants to fulfill his contract in Paris. Most recently, Real Madrid was considered the most promising applicant for Mbappé, but FC Bayern is said not to have seriously considered the personnel.
