KV Kortrijk refuels confidence for competition
KVK gives an eager impression and can also play together the best opportunities in the first half, although the target danger is rather scarce. Just before half time, the home team takes the lead via Amine Benchaib. After the break, the game is more balanced. A header from Gueye just goes wide.
Utrecht is the better team halfway through the second half. Goalkeeper Ilic has to prevent the equalizer with a sweep of the leg. But in the 78th minute the 1-1 is on the board via Bessaoud. But KV Kortrijk reacts immediately. De Bruyn puts the goalkeeper of Utrecht to work from a distance. And three minutes later, Pape Gueye makes it 2-1.
Utrecht, with 11 new players after the break, hits the bar again. But the score doesn’t change anymore. KVK wins its gala match 2-1 and opens the competition at home next weekend against OHL.
Solid Cercle and Essevee
Cercle Brugge made the move to Dender and took the longest end on the field of the brand new second division team. After 90 minutes, the Association was already 0-3. In the extra half hour of playing time, Cercle ran even further away from the East Flemish, to 0-5. Van der Bruggen, Ueda, Hotic, Martlé and Denkey all contributed.
Zulte Waregem also chose to play 120 minutes against the French second division team Valenciennes. At home it managed to equalize 1-1 in the last minutes. Striking summer addition Stan Braem, who worked his way up from fourth provincial to first division, signed for the equalizer.
