KV Kortrijk misses out on its first victory in the extreme
The Purple & White imposed their will at the start of the match in the Guldenspoorstadion, Amuzu kicked the crossbar. But out of nowhere the home team took the lead. De Neve punished poor defending from Sardella. Anderlecht’s reaction followed almost immediately. A deflected shot from Dolberg made it 1-1.
Anderlecht goalkeeper Dupé then whipped Avenatti’s header out of the bottom corner. Dupé got his team into trouble just before the hour mark with a hospital ball towards Vertonghen. Debast then stopped Avenatti’s attempt with his hand. The defender received a red card and Kortrijk was able to take a 2-1 lead from the penalty spot. Avenatti converted the eleven meter.
Brian Riemer then threw Thorgan Hazard into the fray. After a short free kick from the top signing, Leoni put Kortrijk goalkeeper Vandenberghe to work with a low shot. Kana, who was loaned out by Anderlecht, received a stupid second yellow card in the end for a drawing error.
It turned out to be a sour evening for Kortrijk, because deep into injury time, Dreyer scored with a wonderful cross-corner shot: 2-2. Anderlecht provisionally moves into the lead with 14 out of 21. KV Kortrijk, 15th with 2 points, passes the red lantern to Westerlo (1 pt).
