After a lesser second half of July, the Opkikker is welcome for coastal tourism. Last weekend the tourism sector by the sea noted the best weekend of the summer to date, thanks in part to the nice weather. 480,000 tourist overnight stays were noted, which is two percent more than the weekend of July 21. At the coastal hotels, the average occupation was between 85 and 90 percent. Over the two weekend days, 330,000 day tourists dropped to the coast.
Many day tourists also went to the coast on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 August in search of cooling at the tropical temperatures. Monday it was 110,000 day tourists and on Tuesday at 130,000 visitors.
