Kurt Vile has announced a new album. “(watch my moves)”, so the title, is scheduled for release on April 15, 2022 on his new label Verve Records and is, if you count LOTTA SEA LICE with Courtney Barnett, the ninth solo album of the Philadelphia songwriter. The still current record BOTTLE IT IN was released in 2018.
Listen to Kurt Vile’s first new single “Like Exploding Stones” streamed here:
About the making of (watch my moves) Vile shares:
“My favorite thing these days is sitting by the window after breakfast in the morning, drinking coffee, reading and listening to Sun Ra while the sun shines through the trees of the forest. Right now, that’s all I’ll ever need to travel. This record embodies all of that – letting two years go by and staying in my zone, traveling all the time, in my head, on the piano or on my guitar.”
However, Vile did not work on “(watch my moves)” alone. Among others Rob Schnapf, The Violators, Chastity Belt, Cate Le Bon, drummers Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Courtney Barnett) and Sarah Jones (Hot Chip, Harry Styles), as well as James Stewart from Sun Ra Arkestra are said to have been part of the party.
In September Kurt Vile wants to come on a European tour and play two concerts in Germany:
- 09/12/22 Cologne, Gloria Theater
- 09/15/22 Berlin, Huxley’s
Kurt Vile’s first solo album CONSTANT HITMAKER was released in 2008. Because of his solo career, Vile also left the band The War On Drugs, which later became so successful, which he founded in 2005 with their singer Adam Granduciel.
