Turkey’s national soccer coach Stefan Kuntz called for donations after the severe earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
“We at the Turkish Football Federation TFF have also launched a fundraiser where our national players, my family and I will of course participate,” the 60-year-old said in a video on the country’s national team Twitter channel.
“Regardless of whether it’s Germans, German-Turks, Turks or people from all over the world,” anyone can donate, said Kuntz, who has been working for the Turkish association since September 2021. The money will be transferred to the Turkish civil protection, which is ensured by the association.
So far more than 14,000 dead in earthquakes in Turkey
According to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 23 million people could be affected by the severe earthquakes.
Three days after the disaster, the death toll is more than 14,000, according to the Turkish civil protection authority as of Thursday afternoon. However, many people are still missing in both countries.
