Kulak students screen people over 40 for risk factors…

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Western society. But too few people are screened regularly. And so the students went to the people themselves.

The screening is free. A personal analysis is made with a few simple tests, such as a blood pressure and cholesterol measurement. This creates a clear picture of the risk of cardiovascular disease. After screening, everyone also receives a percentage of the estimated risk over the next 10 years. This is quite high for about 40% of people.

Hugo Lefebvre also had himself screened. “It keeps me busy, for sure. They should do this more. Once you pass the age of 65, it is very important to organize such things.”

‘Heart for Life’ is not the only initiative of the students. Throughout the year they organize various (bio)medical related events and thus try to have a positive impact on healthcare in the region.
