return possible
As expected, Takefusa Kubo will sign a contract with Real Sociedad shortly. On Monday evening, the Basques confirmed an agreement with LaLiga rivals Real Madrid over the transfer of the 21-year-old winger. The Japanese should complete the medical check on Tuesday in order to be officially presented by “La Real” and to sign a contract until 2027. The fee should be between 6 million and 6.5 million euros.
The San Sebastián club is Kubo’s seventh club at the age of 21, having played alongside Tokyo for Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan and spells on loan at RCD Mallorca, FC Villarreal and FC Getafe in Spain. The Real Madrid chapter has to be closed for Kubo, whose market value has fallen from 30 million to 7.5 million euros in the past two years, but not yet.
As before the “mark‘ and finally also ‘real total” reported, the “royal” still hold 50 percent of the transfer rights to Kubo. His release clause, which is mandatory in Spain, is said to be 20 million euros – Los Blancos could therefore bring him back for 10 million.
With Ronaldo, Bale & Jovic: Real Madrid’s most expensive arrivals
At Sociedad, Kubo is expected to fill the gap left by the departures of Adnan Januzaj (27; destination unknown) and Portu (30; loan to Getafe). With Brais Méndez (25) from Celta Vigo, another option for the offensive flanks has already been committed for 14 million euros. The Real Madrid squad is to be thinned out, after Kubo, ex-BVB professionals Reinier (20) and Borja Mayoral (25) are also looking for buyers.
