Fortuna Düsseldorf and Karlsruher SC shared the points on the fourth matchday of the 2nd league. The “top game” on Saturday evening ended 0-0.

The Karlsruhe are full of eight points in the target due to the division of points, the Fortuna now has at least four points in the account after two kick -off defeats, but had to be more annoyed about the missed chance of a threesome than the guests that evening.

No parade in the first round

The KSC, which has been unbeaten in the 2nd league for ten games, went into the game with a lot of confidence and put the hosts directly at their own penalty area in the initial phase. However, the Fortunes gradually got more game control over long balls. A first conclusion from Matthias Zimmermann clearly missed the Karlsruhe Tor in the ninth minute.

The inexperienced Düsseldorf defense chain with Kenneth Schmidt and Elias Egouli, who brought it together to four second division games before start, was well managed not to allow any dangerous degrees. And so the Fortunes had the best opportunity to date when Florent Muslija used the Valgeir Lunddal, which rushed to the right in the penalty area, whose header was just past the short post (28th). Shortly afterwards, Shinta Appelkamp also missed the KSC goal with a long-range shot by only a few centimeters (30th). It was an eventful first round that consequently ended with 0-0.

Only after an hour the first shot on a goal

At the beginning of the second half, Düsseldorf coach Daniel Thioune changed his formation and brought a second “real” striker with debutant Zan Celar. The düsseldorf stadium, of course, first saw a more active home team that put the KSC under pressure as part of the “Fortuna-for-all-Alle” with free admission. However, as in the first round, compelling opportunities did not arise. And after a good ten minutes, the guests had swimming a little again.

In the 65th minute, Marvin Wanitzek made the first conclusion on the goal of the Fortuna, in which Florian Kastenmeier actually had to actively intervene, but the Schlenzer in the long corner was not a problem for the Düsseldorf keeper. Shortly afterwards, Muslija found the Appelkamp, which started with a half field flank from the left, but with a flying ball on Karlsruhe’s keeper Hans Christian Bernat (68th). Immediately afterwards, Bernat had to show his class again when a shot from Anouar El Azzouzi came up with full force but relatively centrally flown to his goal.

Even in the final phase, the Fortunes were closer to adding the Lucky Punch, but the impression was not got rid of that this game would have remained goalless even after 180 minutes.
