Medical check completed
Marius Gersbeck is apparently about to return to his former training club Hertha BSC. Like the TV station “sky” reported, the 27-year-old goalkeeper of Karlsruher SC has successfully completed a medical check-up. He should be drawn back to Berlin by an opt-out clause.

The “Bild” newspaper recently reported on corresponding Berlin transfer plans. Gersbeck wore the Hertha jersey from 2004 to 2019 and played one game as a professional before he went to KSC for a fee of 45,000 euros. He has been the undisputed number one there since the 2020/21 season, in the past season he conceded 42 goals in 31 second division games and kept the clean sheet eight times.
According to the newspaper, Hertha has secured a buyback clause so that Gersbeck, who is said to be friends with Berlin President Kay Bernstein, can change for 250,000 euros despite the contract until 2025 – his market value is currently estimated at 800,000 euros.
There are now three keepers in the Hertha squad for the coming season: Oliver Christensen, Alexander Schwolow, who has returned on loan, and talent Tjark Ernst. Christensen was seeded until the end, but is considered a candidate for sale in order to generate much-needed income. The 24-year-old is said to be in demand in England in particular, with Brighton & Hove Albion said to be interested. Even after his loan at S04, Schwolow does not seem to play a role in the plans of the “old lady”. According to reports, Hertha would like to separate, especially with regard to the annual salary in the rumored amount of 2.5 million euros.
